GWK Keeps on Beautifying Itself

GWK Keeps on Beautifying ItselfTo increase the number of visits through the years, the management of Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park continues to do repairs and refreshment. “Renovation of the GWK is on the progress started early 2013,” said Sales Operations Department Head Wayan Sugiantara accompanied by the Advertising & Promotion Section Head Ngurah Gde Trisnawan.
When met at the GWK office recently, Sugiantara delivered that so far the object remained under renovation both in terms of facilities and infrastructure. Some renovations could be seen directly such as the logo that had been enlarged. Road access to the object area had been widened with neater arrangement. There were eight additional lightings with energy-efficient LED system. “As consequence, the nuance at night has now been more beautiful and different,” he said.
Other than the front area of the object, he added, the icon of the GWK itself also got a highlight.  “The main project is the Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue. At this moment, the dispatch of some parts of the statue such as steel and others has been done. Since the renovation, the height of the statue and the pedestal has reached 126 meters and its wing span spread along 64 meters. The project is expected to be completed by 2016,” he explained.
Sugiantara conveyed that in this renovation had also been made some changes in the function of Exhibition Hall into New Beranda’s Restaurant since last September. “We also have another restaurant namely the Jendela Bali The Panoramic Resto intended for middle-up customers. The facilities such as rest room have now been standardized. Meanwhile, to emphasize the merchandise of the object, we make a special souvenir shop selling the knick-knacks featuring the GWK nuance,” he explained.
Ngurah Gede Trisnawan continued that to increase the tourist attraction, his party would officially perform the Kecak GWK on April 1st , 2014. At the moment, the drill performance of the dance accompanied by gamelan music had been carrying out at this object. Visitors could also watch the performance.  Based on the latest data, in February 2014 our tourist visit reached about 60,000 people and it was a significant increase. Most visits were still dominated by domestic travelers reaching approximately 85 percent, consisting of family and study group from Bali, Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya. The remaining visitors are foreigners.
The object area  also provided Outdoor Activities. At the moment, there had been a segway Fun Ride service. “This is the only one stop cultural object that opened from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m in Bali. Thus, we want visitors cannot only take pictures and then go home. However, we want them to see the arts and the cultural performance, enjoy a meal in restaurant, join outdoor activities and can buy cheap souvenirs,” he added. (BTN/och
